Our PrePress department maintains a state of the art, all digital workflow
using up to date
software and equipment to deliver the finest quality and service. We take steps
to assure
that there are no mistakes; from the preflighting stage of a digital file
through the quality
control stage of a plate. Our experienced operators are on staff around the
clock, 5 days
a week, to assist our Customer Service team and to support Our Customers to
answer
questions.
Applications:
MAC: Adobe Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Acrobat, Quark Xpress.
PC: Adobe Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Acrobat, Quark Xpress, Word,
Powerpoint,
Excel Publisher.
Creating a Document:
We do not recommend that our customers create a document within another
document.
Example: Creating a 4"x 6" card inside an 8.5"x 11" document. If the finished
card is
4"x 6", then create a 4"x 6" document and build your card within that
dimension.
Keeping the document size the same as the finished piece will eliminate
potential text reflow.
This is also applied when creating a booklet. However, it must be created with
printer spreads or single pages. If any additional trims are needed for bindery
purposes, such as head trim, foot trim, face trim or grind off, we will add
them to the file at no additional charge.
Bleed:
include 0.125"(1/8) bleed or .0625"(1/16) minimum. example finished size of
flyer 8.5x11, bleed dimensions are 8.75x11.25 or minimum bleed dimensions
8.625x11.125.
Margins:
Give your page comfortable margins. If an element is not bleeding, it should
not be any closer than .25" to the trim.
Fonts:
Make sure to collect all fonts for output. You need to send in both screen and
printer fonts used in your document and graphics files,
including the embedded art files. There are two types of fonts:
1 - Postscript fonts are the most reliable fonts for printing
because they have a printer
and a screen font.
2 - True Type fonts contain screen and
printer fonts as one element and are commonly used
with PCs. It can also work for Apple, however it is not as stable as the
Postscript fonts.
File types:
PDF (print quality), Tiff, Jpeg, psd, eps, and ps(postscript), should be at
300dpi for good quality prints, colors should be at CMYK.
Colors Used:
Delete all unused spot colors and do not use the standard Red, Green and Blue
colors from the color palette. We also recommend that you convert all spot
colors to process if the document is going to print in process colors. Please
notice that the same number Pantone colors that have different suffixes, such
as CVU and CVC, will not print as one color. Most Pantone colors that are
imported from Illustrator or Photoshop have different suffixes than in
QuarkXpress. Please provide separations for each file and a color proof
whenever possible. (The best way to see if your file will print correctly with
the colors as desired is to print separations from a black and white laser
printer).
